Because of the risk of bleeding inherent in VKA, intramuscular injections are prohibited . Infiltrations will be done with caution by the doctor. As for dental extractions and pedicure, they are possible but require to seek the advice of your doctor beforehand.
And sports ?
It is not forbidden to play sports, provided you pay attention. Very violent sports such as combat sports, for example, are to be avoided. The same goes for activities that involve risks of falling. If you have any doubt about the practice of a particular sport, talk to your doctor.
Our advices :
- Avoid, as far as possible, big gardening or DIY work because the risk of bleeding is high, in case of injury.
- Ask your doctor what you can do, among your daily activities, continue without risk.
And food in all this?
It is not necessary to monitor one's diet strictly when one is on vitamin K antagonists. Fortunately, the treatment is already heavy enough in itself.
However, some foods rich in vitamin K should be consumed in moderation because the conflicting effects of the two opposing molecules (vitamin K and its opposite, vitamin K antagonist) could be dangerous. But rest assured, reasonable consumption is not a problem.
You can continue to eat foods containing vitamin K such as spinach, tomatoes, avocados, carrots, fennel, broccoli, lettuce, and all varieties of cabbage, provided you do not exaggerate .
The principle is also the same as for the rest of the diet. Everything is allowed in reasonable quantities. This advice is also valid for alcohol . You are entitled to a glass of wine a day if you are a woman and two if you are a man.
