It is nice to declare war on them with scissors, razors, wax strips or laser, the hairs always come back to the surface. Where does this perseverance come from? And in fact, a bit, what's the use of what?
What is a hair? The hair, also called "hair shaft", is formed in a bulb located about 4 mm under the skin, called "hair follicle" or "hair bulb". The latter consists of two types of cells:
keratinocytes, cells that make it possible to synthesize keratin, a fibrous protein that provides protection and impermeability to the skin, nails and hairs.
> melanocytes, which define the pigmentation of the skin and the color of each person's hair.
Did you know ?
Humans have more hair per square centimeter than most other mammals. But the majority of our follicles are very thin and very clear, they are not visible to the naked eye.
And the part of our body most supplied with hair follicles is not the skull, nor the eyebrows, nor the legs, but ... the forehead!
The totally hairless parts are: the palms of the hands, the soles of the feet, and the nails.
